As this website seems to be finally winds down, I’d just like to say one final goodbye and thank-you to everybody for welcoming me here. It was fun.
ER finished in Ireland a few weeks ago and for me it was a very lonely affair as none of my friends were into ER anymore. I am so glad I had shared the experience with everybody here.
It was great to have had the opportunity to chat with you and to speculate and share the experience of ER with you.
Yes, trying to get into the heads of the writers and speculate, was fun. How wrong did I get it at times!?! Half the fun, I think.
Just a few trivialities…
…Did anyone think Izzies wedding obsession in Grey’s Anatomy was very, very reminiscent of Hope in ‘I don’t”?
…My favourite Neela outing in Series 15 was ‘Dream Runner.’
Reela fans don’t shoot me!
I just think that particular show was so clever and quirky. OK, so Ray was not in it but I think it was the episode where we saw her really making the decision to kick-start her life and make real decisions about her future.
…I wrote somewhere about colour analogies in ‘Dream Runner’ and how colour symbolism was so important to Neela's character. Someone somewhere asked what I thought the white in the background meant when Neela was walking up the hospital corridor in ‘The Honeymoon is over.” and if there was a relationship between that visual and the one where she is getting off the plane in BR and the background is once again white. To be honest I had not drawn a comparison but it got me thinking and I think I finally know what it meant. It symbolises clarity of mind.
In both instances Neela was very clear about what she was doing. She was going to get her man. She may have been uncertain about the rightness of the move but she knew it was what she wanted. Well, we know what happened the first time. She got 'ehm !' cut off at the knees, oh no, that was Ray, she had the rug pulled out from under her!! Ahh.. but second time round, when she finally took the plunge again, she got her happy ending.
…Finally, it was great that in the end R & N got together. It was a lovely ending. It was a nice ending.
BUT it was far too chaste and unemotional.
Will we ever see them together again? I think it’s highly unlikely but who knows. I was after all wrong about George Clooney. I really did not expect to see him back and look what happened there.
Well everybody, goodbye. Enjoy the rest of your summer. Over the next few weeks I’m hoping to take in the Galway Film Fleadh (Festival) and Galway Arts Festival. Yeah, it’s summer. And yes I may finish my Fanfic some time. Who know?
