THE LODGER

I was just on the ER board at NBC.com and in the ShaneWest2 thread someone posted a link to a website for the movie "The Lodger". It says that the movie is coming out in theaters on January 23. It appears to be a limited release (NY and Los Angeles only). I found this odd because I was able to pre-order a copy of this movie via FamilyVideo.com and it is expected to be delivered sometime in February 2009.

It is still coming out in Feb. I think that it is just getting a limited and short cinema release as it was originally just going to go straight to DVD.

You're probably right. I can't wait to get my copy of the movie. I bought "The Elder Son" and it came a few weeks ago. It is a really cute movie and Shane West is so hot in it. I especially love the dynamic between his character and that of the father's.

I hope to buy "Red Sands" as well when it becomes available on DVD. Boy isn't interesting how Shane was not in any movies really while on "ER" (except "The Elder Son") but he leaves and in less than two years the guy makes four films ("Red Sands", 'The Lodger", 'What We Do Is Secret", "The Patience"). Pluse he is currently working on that new Jack Hunter movie which looks like an Indiana Jones type of film which I love. All that and he has reprised his role on "ER" for two episodes (one down and one to go). WAY TO GO SHANE!

Oh I forgot; he has also filmed (or is going to film; I can't remember) "Kerosene Cowboys". Dang that man's been busy.

One thing that bugs me though is that have you noticed that the majority of his movies have gone straight to DVD or have had limited theater release. The last movie of his to have regular mainstream release was "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" which I believe was because the main character was portrayed by Sean Connery is whole a more well-known star. In fact other than Connery the rest of the cast for the most part were unknowns. Shane did have some notoriaty with the TV show "Once and Again" and the hit film "A Walk To Remember" but the rest of his films up to that point had not been big box office draws ("Liberty Heights", "Get Over It", "Whatever It Takes", "A Time for Dancing", and "Dracula 2000). Soon after "LOEG" came his debut on "ER" which is what catupulted him into the mainstream scene. Of course I alway felt that the writers/producers on "ER" seriously under-utilized this man's amazing talent. If it hadn't been for the Reela storyline his character would have had little to screen time which is very unfortunate because the character in his own right was very interesting and more than just a rebel. He was a rebel WITH a cause but had struggled at first to express his true self properly.

In regards to the work he has done since leaving as a regular on "ER" his first film "WWDIS" had limited theater release and then went to DVD. "The Lodger" is also getting limited release and then going to DVD. "Red Sands" is going right to DVD. I wonder if "The Presense" will be shown in theaters as it does have one other big name - Moira Savino - in it? I also wonder about "Kerosene Cowboys" and the new Jack Hunter movie (I can't remember the full title). How are audiences supposed to find out just what an amazing talent Shane is if the majority of them don't get to see his work unless they happened to stumble upon it at the video store? It's not as is independently produced films are anything new anymore in Hollywood. Heck many of them have received countless awards.

Despite Hollywood not giving Shane West enough credit, he has garnered a huge fan base just the same and his loyal followers (me included) will continue to see his films and forever watch him over and over again as Dr Ray Barnett on "ER" in TV re-runs and on DVD. YOU GO SHANE!

Thanks Elsa! I had forgotten about that one. It said it is Completed but yet still shows as if it is In Production. If I had to guess I would bet that this one will go straight to DVD in 2009 as well. Oh well, it's cheaper to rent a DVD than go to see it in theater anyway.

You know; looking at the picture of Shane from "The Gift" he really looks young and that movie was made in 2008. It's probably because he is clean shaven. Most men look younger when they have no facial hair. I personally prefer Shane with a goatee. It dosen't matter if his hair is short or little on the longer side as long as he has that signature goatee. It makes him look older and more mature. Not every guy looks good with facial hair but Shane sure does!

I can't wait to see all of his new movies....I think this year coming is going to be the year that he gets more recognised as a great talent. He also has Silver Cord to do.....God, he is busy!

ITA Sammy! Whether he is wearing a suit and tie or jeans and a t-shirt, that man is just HOT!!!!!!!! Then you factor in that husky voice of his, his brown wavy hair, light-brown eyes, chiseled cheekbones, and the fact that he has buffed up a bit in the arms and chest over the past two years (very evident in the apartment scene from "Haunted" when Ray and Neela are dancing; his biceps have definately filled out more) and you truly have a seriously sexy man!!

Wow. I'd LOVE to see a hot reela scene. It's def in store after the writers only let reela kiss in two episodes so far, give us MORE!

Question? Before "Echelon Conspiracy" has Shane ever had an on-screen love scene before in any of his movies? I can't think of any personally.

Now when it comes to kissing scenes in his movies; he's definately had some good ones of those:

"A Walk To Remember"
"Whatever It Takes"
"The Elder Son"

And of course on his two TV shows as well:

"Once and Again"
"ER"

I think he had one on ER at the end of the fifth episode of season 12, the night he met Zoe. I also remember one on Once and Again during the second season when Eli had sex with Carla for the first time in the back seat of his mother's van. I think there was about two more that season as well. Then there was one during season 3, but I don't think it counts where Jake, Eli's boss, caught him in the closet making out with a woman he had just hired.
