Stealing videos on youtube!

I was on youtube this morning and I was searching "Shane West" and clicked to see what videos had been added, going by date added....and I was so angry to see that someone had stolen one of my videos and posted it as their own!

It has my watermark on it for Gods sake! DockRock07 in big purple letters! It was my "Shane West - Wow" video....and this is the person who stole it steevejhonny....so I left them a comment on the video and their profile telling them to take it down.

And it isn't only me this has happened to, I know. Their is a really great AWTR video that I watched and someone stole it too, even though there was a watermark on it of the original vidder.

I just wonder what makes people actually do that....I would never dream of taking anyones work and trying to pass it off as my own. I just wish there was a way to stop people doing it.

Rant over now....it just kind of annoys me when I spent some time making that video and adding effects(even though it is not one of my better ones ) and someone went and took it.

have em take it down or contact youtube about it.

I left them a comment on the video and on their profile...if they don't take it down in a few days I will contact youtube.

No....but I'm afraid if I complain to youtube they will take mine down aswell....so I just hope if people click to view it and see my comment and realize it is stolen they might not watch it....i wouldn't watch a vid I knew someone had stole from someone and give them views for it.

I'm sorry, you still should contact youtube, someone is passing off your work as their own and shouldnt be given credit for it, i dunno why they'd take yours down too?

Someone delete my 26 videos last year. I lost most of them, I only saved 2 or 3.

I think I might....but how would I go about it. I've never contacted YT before....is there a link to where you send them messages about problems?

I remember when that happened Elsa, that was so cruel of someone to do that....some people really are messed up if they think it's funny to delete something that someone has obviously spent time on.

I think there is a help button or something, just simply say, another user stole your video that you made and is taking credit for it and that you want it taken down, prove that it's your video, if you prove it, i dont see why they cant take it down.

Maybe try clikcing the "Flag" button under the vid, he has to take it down, or YT has to make him!

I went to flag it but there is no option for plagorism(sp?).....which surprises me.....so I don't know what I'm going to do.

I guess I'll just have to live with the fact that mine was there first and people who want to watch it watch that cos it has more views....ah well, things like this happen I guess.

if it cant be taken down, continue to leave comments about it, telling others that this is your work and show proof that it is so this other user wont get credit for the work.

It hasn't really gotten any views and my comment is the only one on it....so it must be stopping some people

Theres an option thats "Infriges my rights" you should try that one

I did, but you aren't allowed to use that unless you are an official thing as it can have legal reprecussions or some shit like that.

I tried it and then was like....but it does! I made it!

They should really make an option for - "Stolen video" or something

I know....someone keeps stealing AWTR vids....I know cos I watched the originals.....some people really have a nerve.

And YT has sunk to a new level....it blocked a video of mine before it had even processed the pic that you see when you search them!

I actually laughed at that Good thing it was only a preview and not a whole vid!

they need to learn to do something about it, people steal pictures of someone else and use em as their own, youtube should have something along the lines of stealing a video

I know....maybe they have a suggestions thread and I could suggest it as well as a few other people...let them know that it actually happens.
